Daroma Tzafona was established by a number of private entrepreneurs, headed by industrialist Mr. Eitan Wertheimer, in cooperation with the Jewish Agency for Israel. The company is a non-profit organization (NPO) and is incorporated as a public benefit limited company (PBIC). The company's activities are financed in the vast majority by donations from the company's owners and the Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) through the Jewish Agency.
What began in 2003 as the construction of a strategic plan for the Negev and the Galilee that was handed over to decision-makers and heads of the economy, continued at the end of 2007 into a dedicated program for the promotion of small and medium-sized factories and productive businesses in the areas of the fund's operation, including financing options and a business envelope in a variety of key management areas.
